December 29th Weekly E-mail

Dear Family and Friends,

Hey everybody, so I hope you all had a good Christmas! My Christmas went by pretty well. They celebrate Christmas a little differently here in chile but it didn’t really affect me much because we weren’t really aloud to join in with the celebrations because it was after our curfew… here in chile they start celebrating at about 10 pm on Christmas eve and they have a big dinner and then they open up presents later and then stay up and party till like 3 in the morning. So elder Wohlfahrt and I got together with the other 2 elders in our district here in aysen and we had our own little Minnie party on Christmas eve and then again on Christmas. It was definitely a different experience for me to celebrate Christmas in chile but it was pretty good all the same. The best Christmas present though was being able to call home and talk with my family. This Christmas I really realized how much I love and appreciate my family. So this week was really good, it was so nice to be able to get some rest this week on Christmas and Christmas Eve. My companion and I worked really hard this week though to try and make up for the 2 days that we missed, we have been focusing on finding some new investigators here though because it seems that we have gotten all our investigators to the point of baptism but they have fear of just making the commitment and doing it. This has been something that has happened quite frequently with me in the little time I have been here in chile. They know its true and they know its something they need to do but they just don’t want to commit. Usually it has something to do with the fact that they are doing something in their life that they don’t want to give up even though they know they should. We are doing our best to help them and ill keep you updated on how they are doing. Although im not really gonna mention names and things until after there baptisms just cuz so many things happen and it would be kinda hard to keep you all up to speed and I imagine it would just get pretty confusing. So you might be wondering how things are going with Elder Wohlfahrt and I. well its going great! We are getting along great and we are working hard. The only problem is that ive started to speak a lot more English than I would like to. We have set some good goals and things and hopefully we will be able to keep them. Its so hard to only speak in Spanish. I am having more fun though than I was in my first 3 transfers and I contribute that to being able to speak English. I love the Spanish language and im so glad im hear in chile and that I have this opportunity to learn Spanish but I just have to tell you how much I love English!!! I guess you don’t really realize how much you love something until you lose it, and being able to communicate 100% of what I want to say is something I have been missing for the past 4 months. So the weather here in aysen is still perfect! Its about 70 degrees or so and it rains quite frequently! My allergies haven’t really given me a problem since I last wrote you about them and that has been such a blessing. Although my companion hates the weather, we are able to work at 100% and give our all everyday! I have learned to love this gospel so much more than I ever thought I would and I still have so much more to learn!! We are all so blessed to have the gospel in our lives! Thanks for all your love and support! I love you all and I miss you!

Ok los Amo adios

Love

Elder Davis

h and ps happy new year!!!
