Dear Family and Friends,
Hey so im doing really good here in Aysen, It still cloudy and rainy everyday and im loving it! I haven’t really had much of a problem with my allergies every since that terrible week about a month ago. Im so blessed to be out here in aysen and to have all this rain!
So this week my companion and I had to work really hard because we weren’t able to work on wed and Thursday due to the fact that Chilean people love to drink… We tried to stay productive during those 2 days and visited members and less active families. The members here are in Aysen are great and they were very welcoming during these holiday seasons and they made us feeled loved and at home, We ate so much food this week cuz everybody wouldn’t let us leave without eating we possibly could.
We had a really great week though, we committed jose to baptism again and him and manuelita are supposed to be going to the registro civil (I don’t know what it would be in English… maybe like city center or something) anyway they are going to get a marriage date again and they are gonna get married! I pray that this time it goes a lot smoother and everything works out! Jose is such a great guy and he is so excited for his baptism!
This week we focused a lot in finding new investigators and helping the less active members go to church. We figured it was a good week to motivate the less active members to go to church and start the year out on the right foot! Well our hard work paid off and we had more less active members at church this week than we have ever had here in aysen! Reactivating members is one of my favorite things to do out here, most of them just need a little encouragement and they are more than happy to go to church! Unfortunately the branch here in aysen isn’t really strong enough to continuely support the people here with visiting teaching so reactivating members and keeping them active kinda falls on our shoulders and we don’t have the time that these people need, we are trying to work with the ward members more to get them more involved in this great work and its definitely a work in progress. I don’t remember if I told you but there are roughly 16000 people here in aysen and about 2000 to 4000 (ive heard all sorts of numbers in that range) members here in aysen.
We found 3 new families to teach this week and we are really excited for them. Finding families is like the pride and joy of being a missionary and we were blessed enough to find 3!!! They are all great and really excited to learn, one of them actually ASKED US if SHE could go to church! We usually have to plead with people to go to church and she ASKED US!!! Finding new investigators is like one of my favorite things to do! It is one of the more difficult and tiring things that we do because as you can imagine its not to fun to get rejected door after door but I cant even explain the awesome feelings I get when someone lets us in for the first time.> So my companion and I are getting along really well, everyday im starting to speak more and more English but my Spanish is still really progressing somehow, we try to only speak English in the house but sometimes we still do in the streets! We contacted someone in the street the other day and just jokingly I said I was from chile cuz he made some kind of joke about gringos and the guy actually believed me! i then told him im from utah but for like 2 minutes he totally believed me! that doesn’t really happen much cuz usually people can tell right off that im from the united states because of my American accent but hey im improving!
Well thanks for all your love and support, I look forward to hearing from you every week! I love you all!
Love
Elder davis,
Ps I just started reading the book of mormon again this morning and im looking for someone that would like to race or something, any takers? Keep in mind that im reading in Spanish and that it takes me longer than normal to read! Let me know! I imagine nobody is gonna respond but im serious! I promise it will bless your life! Reading the book of mormon daily is one of the best decisions I have ever made and I encourage you all to do it! I promise you that it will bless your life in more ways than you will ever know! I feel terrible that I didn’t really take advantage of this blessing very well before I entered the mtc, don’t make the same mistake I did, start reading today!
Ok los amo adios!
